Mommy's Day

Isn't it cool that someone decided we should have a special day to celebrate moms? I must say I am lucky because my kids especially Elijah are really good at letting me know they love me all the time but its nice to have a special day for that. In my family growing up Mother's Day meant that the women in the family got to have the day off. At least thats my perception, my mom may remember it differently but I remember the men and kids were the ones that were responsible for the meals and dishes and other household stuff on that day and of course we would have gifts and cards for mom ready to go. Up until this year Mother's Day has been kind of a disappointment because that stuff didn't happen for me. I was lucky if my hubby helped the kids get me a card. Well this year was really nice.

This year Doug took us out to eat at my choice of place. So I picked Sayaka in Colton. Its a Japanese restaurant and they have a Teppan Yaki grill which I love so we did that Saturday with my mom and grandma. We had to celebrate Saturday because my mom was getting a colonoscopy on Monday and was not allowed to eat anything Sunday. We also went shopping and I got 3 new tops. Saturday night Doug went out to the grocery store which he never does and got me ice cream. Sunday morning Doug got up and made me breakfast with Elijah. I got a cute card from Elijah and Daniel and the present Elijah made me at MOPS which was such a cute picture. Then at church Elijah prepared a potted flower for me. So it was a nice day. I felt very appreciated and loved.

Yesterday I was able to help out my mom by taking her to get her colonoscopy. Thankfully all went well and the doctors didn't find anything to worry about. I also got to help out my grandma by taking her shopping. I am so grateful I have these two women around especially since I have some friends who don't have their mother here. I hope everyone had a really good Mother's Day!
