Our first two days with CAVA
Andrew officially started school on Monday. The first couple of days has been extremely frustrating for both Andrew and myself. We didn't get his computer until yesterday evening and we still don't have his books, and other materials. So far he hasn't really needed the books since his teachers have posted the text pages online until all the students have their materials. He has an actual living person teacher for each class we can call, or email and that he interacts with online. The first day we had a list of things we were supposed to do including attending an online orientation for Andrew and an online orientation for me. Well we never could find where to click to attend that so we didn't get that done. Its been difficult learning the system of how to access classes and do all the stuff they want us to do. Yesterday I read the online syllabus for his English class at around 1pm and in the syllabus it said that we were supposed to participate in a live class event at 10am that morning which we missed so I emailed the teacher in a panic thinking we had already gotten behind and she called me right away. She was so nice. She talked me through exactly what we needed to do to navigate the online class and see and do the assignments and she let me know that all the classes except the language class was set-up the same way. So we got a better handle on what we needed to be doing. She also let us know that the syllabus was actually not correct and we didn't miss anything so that was a relief. I am actually surprised at the amount of work they are expecting each day. Andrew literally spent 6 hours straight on the computer yesterday and still had to do 40 minutes of PE after that. He has gotten bad headaches each day from staring at the computer, and doing all his reading. He needs new glasses very badly and he is going to the optometrist on Thursday. Andrew is also sick which isn't helping anything. He has been running a fever and has a sore throat, poor kid. I'm not sure if we will be able to get all his work done today since he is sick. I'm hoping over the next few days as we learn the system better we will get a better routine down and feel less frustrated. It helps that Andrew has his computer now but we can't use it yet because I need to figure out how we are going to hook it up to the Internet. We may network it or we might get it its own connection. So yeah its been kind difficult around here this week so far. Thank God Elijah's schooling is going very well right now.

Eventually you'll get a good routine going. Of course the next day will be the last day of school for the year. :)
