I will also be giving up some TV time. I will limit myself to 45 minutes of the news in the morning and then nothing until 8pm. I'll let the kids watch an hour in the morning and an hour before bedtime. That also may not sound like much of a sacrifice but the TV has been on almost all day here for at least background noise. So this will be a big change for us.
I believe that limiting myself with the distractions of computer and TV will give me time to reflect and get deeper into the word of God.
Here is a blurb about Lent that I found at http://www.kencollins.com/holy-04.htm
Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance. It is a season for reflection and taking stock. Lent originated in the very earliest days of the Church as a preparatory time for Easter, when the faithful rededicated themselves and when converts were instructed in the faith and prepared for baptism. By observing the forty days of Lent, the individual Christian imitates Jesus’ withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days. All churches that have a continuous history extending before AD 1500 observe Lent. The ancient church that wrote, collected, canonized, and propagated the New Testament also observed Lent, believing it to be a commandment from the apostles. (See The Apostolic Constitutions, Book V, Section III.)

Good for you! I know the computer is a HUGE hickup for me in my house. I do need to give it up too & revamp how much time I am on it.
Good luck to you Joanna & thanks for posting the link on Lent!
(((HUGS)))
Good decision and well thought out! Good luck to you on that! I did so well for a while limiting my computer time to after the kids went to bed for a while and then fell back into old habits! I can see a difference in our lives when I don't follow that rule or something close to it, so I feel your pain! Thanks for the information too on lent, that was great!
Good for you. The TV tends not to be a big issue around here, but the computer... that's a different story.
