Where is everyone?

A lot of the blogs I read have been a bit neglected lately. I guess everyone has been pretty busy or like me isn't sure what topic to focus on and blog about. Not a whole lot going on here. I have plenty of housework to do and stuff like that. I still haven't taken down the Christmas tree. For some reason it seems like a daunting task that I don't want to start on.

Daniel had his 9 month check-up yesterday it went well. He is 20.8 pounds and almost 29 inches long. He is in the 50th percentile for height, the 75th for weight and the 25th for head circumference which is what he has been pretty much all along. He hasn't been interested in food much since we introduced it a couple of months ago and so I haven't been giving him regular feedings. He is pretty much just on the breast milk and the doctor said that was fine and he is doing well. He still isn't quite crawling yet. He pushes himself with his arms and goes backwards pretty well but not forwards and he can spin himself around 360 degrees. He does a great impression of a beached whale at times. The doctor said that's fine and I'm sure he will be doing a real crawl soon. The kid loves to stand. He often resists us putting him down in a sitting position because he wants to stand. He has really strong legs.

We are all getting over our coughs. Everyone seems to be feeling much better but still coughing occasionally.

Doug went to church with us this past Sunday for the first time in about 6 months. It was really nice having him there. I think I made a mistake though because we stayed for a special lunch celebrating small groups and we sat with the folks from our bible study. The lunch itself was nice but the little program went a little long for us and so now I am afraid he won't go back for a long time again because it was too much at once.

Ok so if you are reading this send me a comment so I know people are still out there. If you have a blog take a minute and update whats going on with you. I hope everyone is well!

A couple of things that you can do with baby Daniel to help his development are little exercises that help him cross his mid line. These benefit all babies. Lay him on his back and touch his fingers to his toes, left finger to right toe, and vice versa. It helps the right and left brain hemispheres to work and grow together. Also sitting up can be hard on core muscles that may not be strong enough to support themselves without the extra help from leg muscles. Again have him lie down on his back and put your fingers in his and let him pull himself up and control his laying back down. When you do sit him up, Give him some extra support by putting your hands on his "sit bones" in the pelvis. He'll be sitting up on his own in no time. My boys sat up really late. Head size and weight were a contributing factor as were weak core and neck muscles. Babies all have their own timetable for development, but we can make the most out of each stage they are in.
I'll be praying for Doug. My husband can be like too. He's a preacher's kid, so he literally grew up in church and is ready to run at the end of a service.
