I am really happy because yesterday in the mail I received a letter from the Educational Specialist (ES) that is assigned to Elijah from his charter school. She wants to meet with us next week to finalize his enrollment and start planning for the school year. I get to figure out how we are going to spend all the money allotted to us. We get $900 for each semester. $150 of that I get to spend right away to get supplies I need to start schooling, the rest we get when school starts. I went online to look at the vendor list and I am seriously blown away and overwhelmed. There is so much to choose from. See...http://www.skymountaincs.org/search/search_vendors.php?both
I can buy curriculum, readers, maps. supplies, play equipment, a computer, and it goes on and on. I get to keep what we purchase as long as we are enrolled in the school and are using that item. Its like Christmas shopping with someone else's money.
In other news Elijah has his art show with his FIGS home school group tomorrow. I need to make sure that we get his projects finalized and matted today and then I need to stick them on the display board. I also have to make sure we have all the refreshments for the show all set. I need to make finger sandwiches. My friend Julie is coming to be our guest judge because she is an artist so I am really excited to see her. I think the last time I saw her was 1993 just before I moved to South Carolina. We reconnected via MySpace, and our blogs.
I am feeling frustrated because we are planning our trip up to Northern California next weekend for my grandfather's memorial and to drive back down his car which I am inheriting. Its an 8 hour drive there, and 8 hours back. The price of gas is seriously making me nauseous. I saw it going for $4.65 on Thursday at a "cheap" station in San Bernardino and I haven't looked at the price since then. The gas is always more expensive on the freeway going up North so I know we will be paying over $5 a gallon. To top it off all my family that is going up can't fit in one car so we are driving 2 cars up, and 3 cars back. I really wish we had a minvan in the family for these kind of occasions. Blah!
