Busy Busy

Well things have been busy but going very well. Elijah had his art show on Sunday and it was a huge success in my opinion. We had a really nice turn out, many more people than I expected. The kids each got recognized for the work of art that the crowd liked best out of all the pieces they did. Elijah was also recognized for a special award for best use of line which was a pleasant surprise. I got to spend time with my friend Julie and her daughter Jenna which was a lot of fun.

On Monday we went to Disneyland with my dad and had a nice time. We got back in time for Elijah's karate class and we babysat the 4 Miller kids that night. My friend Diane Miller and I have been exchanging meals for the last couple of weeks and it has been really nice. Each week she makes us dinner one night, and we feed her family dinner another night. Its been fun not having to worry about dinner one night a week and it hasn't been difficult at all to prepare a larger meal to feed her family, I usually make more than we need anyway.

On Tuesday my friend Claudia called me with the news that she gave birth to her second baby girl named Danielle. Mommy and baby are doing well. Please pray for baby Danielle to have a blessed life under Gods protection.

We had our last MOPS meeting yesterday until September. It was my last meeting as a table leader as next year I just want to be a mom at the meetings and not have the commitment of being a table leader interfere with Elijah's Kindergarten home schooling. After MOPS I stayed to get trained to work in the Sunday School classes as a substitute over the summer. I need to find time to go get a live scan done.

Today we have our last day of FIGS until September. We are going to the park for a picnic and I am bringing water balloons for a water balloon toss.

All week I have been researching various curriculum choices for Elijah and making decisions. Its a lot of fun, and it feels really good to be narrowing down what we will be doing with him for Kindergarten. One decision is that we will be teaching him first grade math. He already knows most of the kindergarten standards for math, and actually already knows about half of the first grade standards. He has been maturing in his learning ability a lot over the past 6 months. He is memorizing stuff a lot easier. Its so nice to see him growing, and developing, and learning.

This weekend we will be making our big trip up to Oroville which is in Northern California for my grandfather's memorial. My family will also be placing his house on the market. I am really sad to see the place being sold. I had a lot of good memories there, and I would buy it myself if I had the money. We have narrowed down the number of people going to minimize the number of cars making the trip. Sadly Doug will be one of the people not going mostly because he has to be back to work on Monday and we won't be back until maybe Tuesday. So the boys won't be with their dad on Father's day. =( It will be my mom, the kids and I going up in one car and just me and the kids coming back in my Grandpa's car. Mom will be driving back alone. I'm a little concerned about driving that far without another adult to help with the kids but I think we will be ok, pray for us. Its normally an 8 hour drive without lots of kid stops so I think it will be a pretty long day.

You will definately be missed as a table leader next year, but I am SO glad you are coming back to just enjoy being one of the MOTS moms. Have a good summer and I'm sure I will run into you at church. ~ Kindra
