A fairly good start

Yesterday went fairly well with my decision to make healthier choices. I had to go and get the car serviced and while it was being worked on I needed to kill 2 hours. The auto shop offered to give me a ride home but I decided to use the stroller and walk around town some instead. It was lunch time so we walked to a Mexican restaraunt where I would usually order shredded beef tacos and load up on chips. Instead I ordered the grilled chicken salad with no dressing and had just a handful of chips and an ice tea. Not bad. Well when we finished lunch we still had a lot of time to kill so me and the kids shared a fried icecream, yeah not the best choice but we really enjoyed it and I ate less than I usually would. Then we did some more walking and it was a challenging enough walk that I started breathing hard and worked up a sweat. For dinner I did really good I cooked beans with a ham hock in the slow cooker for bean soup. I had one bowl of that and a bowl of cereal for dessert.

So I got the brakes done on the car yesterday. It had needed them for a long time and we just didn't have the money so I kept putting it off well of course that meant that the rotors needed to be replaced, yikes! So $408 later the car's brakes work wonderfully and it has a fresh oil change and air filter. After that I had to take it for a smog check which it passed $60 later and then I came home and paid the registration online. Cars are so dang expensive!! I figured in my budget that we spend about $500/month on our cars and we have no car payments, and that doesn't include when they need to be serviced just gas ($375!!), insurance, and registration. I wish we lived somewhere with better public transportation like San Francisco.

Poor Daniel is still having a rough time with teething. I really thought he was past the hard part because he did really good for several hours during the day yesterday but he had diarrhea again last night and this morning. He also woke up in the middle of the night and threw up and when he woke up this morning he threw up again. He won't let me do a good investigation of his mouth but from what I could see he has one tooth poking out on the bottom and several really swollen spots on both top and bottom where it looks like more teeth are trying to push through. Poor baby!

Joanna ~ I was telling my doug the same thing!! I would totally take public transportation if it were more readily available!! I mean a trolly would be great!

Good job girly ~ you should try leaving a bite or 2 on your plate at meal time ~ it would easily cut calories!

Now drop & give me 20!
