Well our saga continues with the washing machine. It has now been out of commission for over a week and I don't know when it will be up and running again. We had a repair man out on Saturday and he opened up the machine and found mouse droppings, yuck! Apparently a special hose used for regulating the water level was chewed through or somehow broken in half so thats what needs to be replaced. The man called his shop and ordered the part needed to fix it on Saturday from our house and then he told us it would be in on Tuesday morning and he would be back on Tuesday afternoon to fix it. So we gave him a $50 deposit and he left. Yesterday was Tuesday so I spent all day waiting on him to come. I was scrounging up old disposable diapers that I had on hand from when Elijah was a baby and using them for Daniel since all the cloth diapers are dirty. None of them were the right size for Daniel and several of them were those little swimmer diapers so they weren't working out too good.
So at about 3:30pm I decided to call the place to find out when they were coming I had a feeling they weren't going to show up. So the lady that answered the phone barely spoke English and had no idea what was going on. She took my phone number and had a differnt man callme back about 15 minutes later and this man had to call me back 2 other times before he was able to tell me what was going on. He said the part had not come in and that they would call me when it was in. He didn't even say sorry or anything so I had to tell him I was disappointed that no one called to say they weren't coming and he treid to say that we didn't really have an appoiuntment and that when the guy on Saturday said he would be back Tuesday that we should not have expected him to really come back on Tuesday because there is no way to know for sure the part would be in. So of course I was not happy and I let him know that but we are already into this place for $50 so I feel like we can't decide to use someone else now. I really had to bite my tongue to completely avoid telling the guy on the phone off but I think I did get my point across that they did not act with good customer service. So he said they "should" have the part in on Wednesday (today) and that they would call me when the part was in and would then make an appointment to come out and install it. Its 9:20 am now and I haven't heard from them so I am guessing this isn't getting wrapped up today. So yeah I am pretty irritated.
Here is the silver lining part. Money is once again really tight especially since we have to pay for this washing machine to get fixed, and pay $60 for a tire repair and an oil change for Doug's car and I wasn't sure how we would get by the next couple of weeks. Its embarassing to say that we live that close to the edge but we do. My mom and my grandma came over yesterday and gave me valentines for the kids and a little box of chocolate for Elijah, a cute cup with a heart on it and a cute wallet purse for me, plus $220! My mom is such a blessing to me, Thanks mom!
So I went and bought a package of diapers and a few necesities from the grocery store. We had to miss bible study yesterday because Doug got what me and the kids have had and he is pretty sick. The baby still has a runny nose. Elijah is mostly recuperated but I STILL don't have much of a voice. Doug is working though his illness but plans to stop at the extended care after work tonight. His asthma always makes colds worse for him. I may go to the doctor as well. I'll see how I am doing later today.
One last positive note, last night we had a really nice dinner. I got some sirloin on sale and barbequed it and it came out really good and we still have half of it leftover so tonight I am going to make burritos with it. Yummy!

Yours is not the only family living close to edge financially. We are in the same boat. I keep thinking about how if I went back to work full time it would help out so much, but then I think about what we'd have to give up to make that happen, and it just isn't worth it. I'll be praying for you guys. Remember when you guys come through this you'll be some pretty beautiful snowflakes and if God cares about those little things, He most certainly will be taking care of you all.
