Happy Saturday!

The Sun is shining! I see blue sky! Yay! I love the rain but we have been having quite a lot of rain lately so its nice to see a clear sky especially since there is more rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Praise God it didn't rain during our Valentine Party at the park on Thursday it was really cold and cloudy so it wasn't the best weather but at least the kids got to get together as planned and do their Valentine exchange. I brought these little craft kits I found at Michael's for them to do. They were wood crafts and the kids got to choose from bird houses, race cars, planes, helicopters, or boats. The kits came with everything they needed for just $1. They all sanded their wood pieces then glued them together, then painted them. They came out really cute and it was neat watching all the kids so busy working to the sound of sanding. We had plenty of food this time so that was good, we ran out of food at the Christmas party. I had some help with this party which I am really grateful for. One of the other moms brought really cute crafty stuff. The kids were able to decorate bags to put their Valentines in and make cards for their parents. The kids all got lots of Valentines when we did the exchange and everyone seemed happy. We wrapped up the party earlier than planned because it was so cold out but I think it was a successful party. Now I just have the Resurrection party to plan for Easter and I will be done with party planning for this year. =))

Today my parents are taking Elijah to the Nascar races at the California Speedway which is another reason I am grateful for the blue sky. Elijah is so excited. If it were raining the race would be cancelled. My friend Claudia is supposed to come visit this morning which will be nice.

We dropped off Doug's car at the Auto Collision place where its going to get fixed yesterday. They looked over the car and said it wasn't driveable. They haven't done a full inspection though. We should find out Monday what all needs to be done and how long it will take. Our deductible is $500 so will probably have to charge that. Its not going to be fun having only one car for awhile but we will get through it.

This week is going to be another busy week. Elijah has choir on Monday and its our turn to take snacks so hopefully Doug will be home early that day so we can go or I'll have to ask one of the other parents to take the snacks for us. On Wednesday I am babysitting. On Thursday we have a field trip to the Lincoln Memorial in Redlands and we have our first Home school Coop class. We are calling the class FIGs for Filling In the Gaps or Fun in Group Setting. It should be a place where the kids can get together in a classroom setting and really get to know each other better while do some typical classroom type of activities. We have so many ideas about what we can do. The moms are signing up to be in charge of activities so it will be completely mom led. We get to go "school" shopping with a list of what Elijah will need to take in his back pack to FIGS. We are very thankful to The River which is a church in Redlands that is giving us two classrooms to use for free and we will have space for outdoor activities as well which is important as we plan to do a lot of PE. Its all very exciting!

On Saturday I am hosting a Lia Sophia Jewelry party here at my home. If you would like to come let me know its at 2pm. I am kind of nervous about it. I want to get everything looking presentable at home since people will be coming over. I am the world's worst housekeeper so there is a lot to do this week to get everything looking the way I want. We still don't have base boards up around the perimeter in the living room and that's just not going to happen between now and the party so that's one thing I will ask people not to look at ;)

Oh yeah our bible study switches from Tuesdays to Thursdays this week and we are starting a new book, The Purpose Driven Life. I read it in a small group about 4 years ago and I got so much out of it and I am definitely ready to read it again. Doug hasn't read it yet so it will be new to him so I am excited about bible study and the new direction we are going in.

I hope everyone is doing well and thanks for reading!

How did your jewelry party go?
Your home school coop really sounds great. I would so love to get something like that started here.
The local CHEA group down here won't allow students using public school charters or independent study to join their group. I hope you are having a great week so far!
