Aack!!! Its an invasion!!

Ok I am highly annoyed because a couple of months ago I started finding these little black bugs in my pantry items such as flour and rice. I tossed them out and bought new stuff and put them in what I thought was airtight containers I bought at the grocery store. I keep finding these stupid black bugs though. Since this started I have thrown away 3-4 partially used bags of flour and cereal, etc. I pulled everything out of the pantry a couple of weeks ago and threw away everything that had been opened then cleaned the shelves and sprayed bug spray in there. I threw out so much stuff and I was so sorry to be so wasteful but I had to get rid of the dang bugs. So again I started fresh with new flour and other pantry items and put my new cereal and flour in plastic containers with lids thinking I was done with the darn black buggies. I patted myself on the back and since then have been hyper-vigilante about how my food is stored in the pantry and have even started buying pre-packaged snacks which I hate to do because it costs more and isn't so good for the environment but I figured it would help my bug issue. So today I open the pantry and right there at eye level is my see through plastic container with my new flour in it and several of those annoying black bugs!! I feel like pounding my head on the wall or something. We are starting to wonder if the black bugs come with the flour or something. Urrgh!

So I am going to have to try again and throw away everything and clean, clean, clean, then start again fresh. I've decided the containers I'm using may not be as airtight as I had thought so I am going to order tupperware storage containers for all my pantry items. I am actually hosting an online tupperware party so if any of you think you could also use some new storage items then I'll send you an email invite just make sure I have your email address. It will be open for 2 weeks and closes on November 26th.

So its me -vs- the black buggies. They have won a few battles but I am desperately hoping I win the war.

That sucks ROYAL!!!! They do sell shelf liner that has bug stuff in it. I don't know what it's called, but I bought it before at either K-Mart or Staters. I would try Wal-Mart too.
Good luck to you and your bug invasion!!!

I know just what you mean, and now I know why the on line tupperware party. I also use special paper for the shelves that is sometimes hard to find. It is called bug free or something like that. It helps. Sorry about your invasion.

If I remember correctly, my folks told me that bugs do come in the flour when you buy it.Usually the bug eggs are in with the flour and if you keep your flour long enough, they will hatch. Might be a good idea to buy a smaller quantity, if you aren't going through it fast enough. So it may not be you! I'll have to check with them on this.
