Happy Independence Day!

I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday today! I was trying to explain to Elijah about how today marks the birth of our country but he had a hard time understanding the whole separating from England part. Doug and I plan on BBQing, and spending time in the pool today with the kids. We also plan to head over to the high school tonight for the FreedomFest and watch the fireworks. I wonder if Daniel will stay awake for the fireworks...

It has just been me, Doug, and the kids the last couple of years for the 4th of July. My parents are usually on vacation, out of town at this time of year. They are in Washington DC right now. Most of our holidays are usually spent with family so it always feels weird to me to be on our own for the 4th of July but we will have a nice day. In the past we have had friends over for the 4th but everyone always has plans these days, and the friends that used to come over moved out of state. I miss them a lot during times like this.

Well I still have to head out to the grocery store for supplies, so I'm off.

Hope you had a great day. Actually for our family, the 4th is the only holiday we spend with just our friends and not family. Even though my parents did join us for fireworks this year. ~ Kin
