Summertime!

Summer is finally here! I must say I am really liking the weather this summer so far. June was for the most part quite cool. Temperatures were far below normal for the first 3 weeks of June. I never like the intense Summer heat so I was really loving the cool foggy days. I am also really liking our summer school activities. We are doing school days here at home 2-3 days per week so we can balance out the time we tend to take off during the regular school year and also so we keep Elijah's skills up. We are doing mostly review kind of stuff and are working at lot on his reading. We have been able to do more fun poetry, fables, and stories than we had time to do in the regular school year. Elijah seems a lot more motivated to do school since I am being more flexible in what we are going to do. He likes picking out what we are going to work on. Its been a good lesson for me in seeing what motivates him. We are signed up for the summer reading program at the library too. Today we get to meet with our FIGS group and we are doing a lesson from Story of The World. We are then going to start the process of mummifying a chicken. That should be interesting to say the least.

Elijah has been doing so good with school work that last night I got out the "broken" Game cube and "fixed" it for him. I had let him believe it was broken for about the past 5 months when in actuality it was just not plugged in correctly. He was getting way too addicted to it, and things that were important were being neglected so it needed to go away. We will see how it goes now. I'll let him play for awhile here and there but no playing all day.

Next week we get to go to San Diego for a week of vacation. I'm looking forward to that. We bought passes for the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park and we will be visiting the museums. Elijah is most excited to see dinosaurs at the Natural History museum. We will also spend time at the beach and by the hotel pool. We have been invited to a BBQ and swim party on the 4th of July at a close family friend's house who lives in the San Diego area. So that should be fun.

One thing summer has already brought is a growth spurt for Elijah. I measured him and put a little tick mark on the door jam in May and today I was noticing he seemed longer so I measured him again and he has grown almost a full inch in the last month! Daniel seems longer too but he grows quickly anyway. My boys are getting so big!

Today I am dropping my land line phone line. We figured it made more sense to use that money on a 2nd cell phone so that Doug and I don't have to share one anymore. So if you need my cell phone number email me. I am little concerned about not having 911 service on a land line in case of a major emergency but some of my friends that no longer have landlines say they haven't had any trouble when they have needed to call 911 on their cell phones so I am hoping we won't need to call 911 for anything, and if we do I am hoping the cell phone will be fine.

I am hoping you all are enjoying your summer so far! Take care!

We don't have a landline either. We haven't needed 911 so far, but I'm sure it will be fine if we do!
Taking note of the new number by the way.
